Sriracha Cheddar Cheese Sauce is a delicious dipping sauce for chicken or the perfect drizzle on top of basically anything! If you love sriracha hot sauce, you will love this cheesy dip recipe!

Sriracha Cheddar Cheese Sauce is so good, you could pour it on top of cardboard. Well, maybe not cardboard, but just about anything else edible! I love this easy dipping sauce recipe for so many things, but it is especially good to spice up a chicken dinner!

I recently made some delicious homemade chicken tenders and I knew they were just screaming for a dipping sauce more sophisticated than the humble ketchup. My husband has been digging sriracha lately, so I switched up my recipe for Skinny Buffalo Cheddar Dipping Sauce and subbed out the hot sauce for the super tangy and delicious sriracha hot sauce. I am a hot sauce purist and love the taste of the traditional Frank’s Hot Sauce or the Mexican Cholula, but I am definitely loving sriracha lately, too!Pretzel Crusted Chicken Tenders with Sriracha Cheddar Sauce

This sauce was a big hit. The cheddar and sriracha paired so well together and the dip came out perfectly creamy. It even reheated really well the next day for leftovers. I drizzled a little on our roasted cauliflower and that was amazing too!

If you can make a roux (which you can, it’s incredibly easy!) you can make a cheese sauce. I use the same base for all my cheese sauces. You melt butter in a sauce pan, add equal parts flour, and then add your liquids. Off the heat, you add your cheese and any additional seasonings. Its fool proof and so easy. You can whip mac n cheese up in minutes this way and I am thinking that a sriracha mac n cheese recipe will be coming up soon!   Spicy Sriracha Cheddar Cheese Dipping Sauce

Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp. butter
  • 2 tbsp. flour
  • 2 tbsp. sriracha hot sauce plus more if desired
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. garlic powder

Instructions

  1. Heat a small saucepan to medium heat. Add butter.

  2. Once butter is completely melted, add flour and whisk to combine. Let cook for 30 seconds. Add sriracha and whisk again. Add milk and whisk well.

  3. Let cook for 4-5 minutes, over medium heat, until mixture starts to simmer and thicken. Stir every minute or so to prevent sticking. Once thick enough to coat the back of a wooden spoon, turn off heat.

  4. Off the heat, add the cheddar cheese. Whisk until melted. Add the salt and garlic powder and more sriracha if desired.

  5. Serve immediately.

    This recipe is SO GOOD!
Flavourful, rich, and surprisingly…not as high in fat as I would have expected for such a delicious sauce.
I put it on hot dogs, but it will be a great dip for chips or quesadillas too.
Already thinking of endless places to use it.
    Thank you for sharing!
